Kenya Golf Union (KGU) is the national governing body for golf in Kenya. It was founded in 1928 with the first member clubs being Eldoret, Kitale, Muthaiga, Kiambu, Nairobi (now Royal Nairobi), and Gilgil. It has since grown to having 38 member clubs across Kenya.

Some of the important roles of KGU are to:

  • uphold and maintain the Rules of Golf
  • issue, manage and administer handicaps
  • grow the game of golf by working with the clubs, government, R&A and other stakeholders

KGU also hosts the Kenya Open, which is a European Tour event; the biggest and most prestigious golf tournaments in Africa outside South Africa. It also organizes and runs a host of other national amateur golf tournaments as a way to promote the game of golf.

KGU offices are located at Muthaiga Golf Club on Kiambu Rd in Nairobi.
