Eldoret Golf Club

ELDORET CLUB

A lovely 9 hole course that’s configured to play as an 18 hole course just on the edge of Eldoret town. River Sosioni meanders around this course creating many natural water hazards and tests for your game. The greens on this course are generous and probably some of the best for an upcountry course. The course is mature with a lot of trees, bushes, and enough dog legs that require you to stay on right side of the fairway to score well.

Scorecard

Hole By Hole Description

Hole 1 – Par 5 xxx yards. S.I. 9

Mid-length, dog-leg left, par 5 to start your round. Find the right side of the fairway and you can to get on the green in two and a great chance to start your round with a birdie. The green is generous and generally flat or very gentle break. Birdie is a realistic score.

Hole 3 – Par 4 xxx yards. S.I. 3

This long par 4 demands a long and accurate tee shot. Favor middle to right of the fairway for a good look at the green. There’s a river crossing this fairway closer to the green making the approach shot also key; choose your club wisely. A front pin position is probably the toughest on this green that is undulated. A par is a great score on this hole.

Hole 2 – Par 3 199 yards. S.I. 13

Tight and tough par 3. An accurate shot is a must and therefore club selection is critical as the green is huge. The green is two tiered with a big slope in the middle and any time the pin in on the back of the green par becomes a hard score. Be happy with a par any day.

Hole 4 – Par 4 xxx yards. S.I. 15

Another tough and long par 4 that dog-legs to the right. Favor the middle to left side of the fairway for a chance to see the green for your second shot. River Sosioni crosses the fairway but only the longest of the long hitters should be worried of getting to it on their tee shot. The green is protected by water from the left side of the fairway to the back of the green. There’s also a bunker on the left side. Avoid the hazards and

Hole 5 – Par 3 xxx yards. S.I. 7

Another long par 3 with River Sosioni crossing the fairway and meandering around to the back side of the green. The river should not be in play on this holes unless you hit very long over the green or greatly mishit your shot. The green is protect by a bunker on the front right side. A par is a good score on this hole.

Hole 7 – Par 3 154 yards S.I. 1

You will not see the surface of this par 3 from the tee box making it very challenging to select your club. The green is protected by a tree on the left side, a bunker on the front and right side. The green is also undulating making is hard to get a par if you don’t hit it.

Hole 6 – Par 4 xxx yards. S.I. 17

A long par 4 with a pond on the left side of the landing area. Find the fairway and select the club for you second shot wisely for a chance to get a birdie on this hole. The green is protected by a bunker on the front left. Mishit to far right and you will likely be OB. A birdie is a great score but don’t feel bad if you walk away with a par.

Hole 8 – Par 4 xxx yards. S.I. 11

A great par 4 that gives you a chance to birdie hunt. Avoid the two fairway bunkers on the left and you can truly attack the flag on your second shot. The green is protected by a bunker on the right side. a birdie is a great score on this hole.

Hole 9 – Par 5 xxx yards. S.I. 5

Probably one of my favorite holes on this course. The hole gives you many ways to finish the nine with a birdie. A fairway bunker protects the right side of the fairway on this dog-leg right par 5. Hit a long tee shot that favors the left side and you will have a chance of going for the green in two. However if you hit shot or miss the fairway in a nice spot, a good layup shot will give you a chance to attack the flag for a chance of a birdie. The green is protected by a raised bunker on the front right. A birdie is a realistic score on this fabulous hole.

Hole 13 – Par 5 xxx yards. S.I. 2

They move the tee box back to make this a great par 5. Laying up on the second shot is probably the best strategy for this hole even though it’s reachable in two. See description of hole 4.

Hole 10 – Par 4 xxx yards. S.I. 16

A long, dog-leg left, par 4 to start your second nine. Find the right side of the fairway to be able to get on the green in regulation. The green is generous and generally flat or very gentle break. A par is a good score.

Hole 12 – Par 4 xxx yards. S.I. 14

They move the tee close to make this hole a little easier. With a good drive you’ll have a wedge into the green. See description for hole 3.

Hole 13 – Par 5 xxx yards. S.I. 2

They move the tee box back to make this a great par 5. Laying up on the second shot is probably the best strategy for this hole even though it’s reachable in two. See description of hole 4.

Hole 15 – Par 4 xxx yards. S.I. 18

The tees are moved up to make this a short par 4. A great tee shot will give you a wedge to the green on your second shot if you avoid the pond on the left side of the fairway. See description of hole 6.

Hole 14 – Par 4 278 yards. S.I. 12

The tee box is moved back on this hole making it a very reachable par 4. Longer hitters can get on the green with less than a driver even with a tree blocking part of the fairway. River Sosiani is a factor on this hole. See description for hole 5.

Hole 16 – Par 5 134 yards. S.I. 4

They move the tee boxes forward to make this a short par 3. Same challenges face you as hole 7.

Hole 17 – Par 4 xxx yards. S.I. 10

See description for hole 8.

Hole 18 – Par 5 548 yards. S.I. 8

See description for hole 9.
