With the 18th green right next to the clubhouse verandah, it offers a natural and very animated gallery especially for those finishing their round in the late afternoon. Scorecard

Limuru Country Club

Hole By Hole Description

Hole 1 – Par 4 466 yards. S.I. 3

The course starts with a long and challenging hole. It offers a generous fairway to help you avoid the woods and range OB on the right and OB on the left. The green is protected by a bunker of the right. Long hitters will benefit by having a scoring club on their approach shot to with a chance to attack the flag. A par is a good score to start off.

Hole 3 – Par 5 552 yards. S.I. 9

This is the signature hole at Limuru. A tree lines fairway that requires an accurate tee shot to score. Favor the center or left of the fairway for a good second shot as all balls bounce right on landing. Long hitters have a chance to go for it in two. However there’s a big water hazard on the right close to the green ready to punish an errant shot. The green is also protected by a bunker on the left. The hole plays shorter than the yardage indicates because of its downhill. The 2nd shot is key to good scoring. A birdie is a realistic score on this hole.

Hole 2 – Par 4 357 yards. S.I. 11

A relatively easy hole if you hit the fairway. Favor the middle or left fairway. The right side of the fairway is well protected by trees and a bamboo bush that can easily swallow your ball if you slice the ball. Another chance to attack the flag if on the fairway. A par is a good score.

Hole 4 – Par 5 482 yards. S.I. 1

Don’t let the yardage fool you, this is a tough hole that forces you to get on the green in 3. The hole is uphill with a double dogleg (left on tee shot and right on approach). Choose the club you tee of with carefully because you run the risk of overrunning the fairway or blocking your 2nd shot. A driver is not advised for many. Layup carefully on your 2nd shot and you’ll have a chance to attack the flag. The green is sloping back to front and protected by bunkers on both right and left side. A par is a good score.

Hole 5 – Par 3 159 yards. S.I. 17

A slightly downhill par 3 with a bunkers protecting the green on the front side and left side. The green slopes back to front. Be careful of your club selection based flag position. A par is a good score.

Hole 7 – Par 3 200 yards S.I. 7

A long and tough par 3 with the green that’s well protected by bunkers on both the right and left side. Select the club to tee off carefully. An accurate tee shot is key to a good score on this whole. If you can steal a par, be happy.

Hole 6 – Par 4 318 yards. S.I. 13

A dogleg left hole that gives long hitter who can draw the ball a chance to hit the green. The rest of the plays need to select the club for tee off carefully as the fairway is protected by bunkers on the right near the landing area. The green is also protected by a bunker on the left. A good tee shot leaves you a wedge shot to attack the flag and a good chance for birdie.

Hole 8 – Par 4 398 yards. S.I. 5

Another hole that plays longer than the yardage. Avoid the trees and OB on the right because that’s a sure recipe for a double bogey or worse. Favor the left side of the fairway although there’s also OB on the left. Clear the corner of this dogleg right and you’ll have the green light to the green. The green is protected by bunkers on both the left and right side. A par is a good score.

Hole 9 – Par 4 335 yards. S.I. 15

A shot par 4 that gives long hitters another chance to go for the green. However an accurate tee shot is required to navigate this tree lined fairway with OB on the right. The green is protected by a bunker on the right. A two tiered green awaits you so make sure you get your second shot on the right tier to give you a chance at birdie.

Hole 11 – Par 4 360 yards. S.I. 16

A seemingly easy, downhill hole that offers a risk-reward choice. Long hitters can get on this green but it requires an extremely accurate tee shot. The fairway is narrow and is tree lined on the left and OB on the right. If you can’t get to the green or close a driver might not be the right club for you. The second shot is also challenging to this downhill green that slopes from back to front. Any shot long of the green is hard to find, any shot short of the green gives you a challenge to make two strokes especially if the flag is at the back. A par is not a bad score.

Hole 10 – Par 4 415 yards. S.I. 4

This long par 4 tree lined par 4 offers a challenging starting hole for the back. A bunker on the right side of the fairway also protects against and errant tee shot. Favor the center and left side of the fairway for a realistic chance to go for the green in two. A challenging green that slops back left to front right awaits. The green is protected by a deep bunker of the front right. A par is a good score.

Hole 12 – Par 4 372 yards. S.I. 8

This dogleg right hole from an elevated tee box requires an accurate tee shot. It favors a fade around the big tree on the fight of the fairway to hit the fairway. A slice to the right will certainly land OB. A pull will land you in the trees on the left. Hit the fairway and a birdie will be beckoning you. The green slightly slopes back to front and is protected by bunkers on both right and left side. A birdie is a realistic score.

Hole 13 – Par 4 403 yards. S.I. 2

A dogleg to the right with a tree lined fairway that slope left to right. You tee shot needs to start way left of the fairway as all balls will roll to the right on landing. You’ll certainly have a downhill second shot with the ball below your feet. Choose your approach club carefully as the green is sitting on a table top and is protected by a bunker on the left and anything right or long will leave you with a touch pitch back to the green. The green slopes back left to front right. A par is great score on this hole.

Hole 15 – Par 5 541 yards. S.I. 6

A great par 5 with an uphill tee shot that requires a good tee shot. Avoid the trees on the left on your tee shot and avoid going too far right otherwise you’ll have a challenging 2nd shot. The hole forces 3 shots to the green even for the longest hitters. The 2nd shot is downhill with trees on the left and OB on the right, so a good shot is paramount. For most the 3rd shot will be a short wedge so you can attach the green for a chance of birdie. The green is protected by bunkers on the right and front left.

Hole 14 – Par 3 153 yards. S.I. 18

A tricky downhill par 3 that plays shorter than the yardage says. The green slopes from back to front and sits on a table top so its paramount not to be long, left, or right of it. The front of the green is protected by a bunker for you are force to fly the ball in. A par is a good score.

Hole 16 – Par 3 194 yards. S.I. 12

Another tough par 3 with a green that’s protected by bunkers on the left and front right. Choose your club carefully.  Land your shot on the hill to the right and it has a good chance to run into the green. A par is a good score.

Hole 17 – Par 4 333 yards. S.I. 14

A tricky hole that requires precision on the tee shot. The fairway slopes severely from right to left so start your shot on the right side of the fairway without going to long. Any tee shot that lands in the center of the fairway will roll left behind a big tree that will create a challenge for your 2nd shot. The hole has probably the toughest green on the course. The green slopes from back right to front left and 3 putting is easy if not close enough to the flag. The green is protected by a bunker on the left. If you can steal a par on this hole, be happy.

Hole 18 – Par 5 535 yards. S.I. 10

A great tee shot on this tree lined hole will give you a chance to mesmerize the gallery with a good 2nd shot to the green. Try to hit the center or right side of the fairway for a chance to challenge the green in two. As with most greens at Limuru, the 18th green is protected by bunkers on the right and front left side. The green has a false front so ball placement on the approach shot is key. The hole gives you a good chance to finish your round with a birdie and an applause from the gallery in the clubhouse.
